Eek!! It’s week 4. Honestly, we haven’t crossed too many things off our DIY list, BUT we are very close to completing several things (hopefully by this weekend!)
We tore out our old pine treads (they were in horrible shape and didn’t feel sturdy) and replaced with thicker solid oak (which match the oak hardwood). And finished painting the stair stringer.
Here’s the stairs almost complete. I love how solid they now feel!
The edge of the built in bench has been a little slow – getting it to fit just right has been a little tricky. We’re also thickening the bottom/side leg (either oak to match, or black to match the cabinet)

All the lighting is now up (thanks to David’s dad!) This isn’t a great photo (it was super rainy that day) but these look SO good in person! Chandelier these bulbs provide such pretty light (love the milky glass and color temperature
Living room fixture was a last minute change. This area is so tricky with the low ceilings, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!
I also mocked up the coffee table legs in SketchUp. So helpful to draw to scale – just a few inches can make such a difference, so getting it right the first time is a huge timesaver!
Dining room windows were supposed to be delivered today, but it didn’t work out, hopefully tomorrow! We plan to install over the weekend. Wish us luck to get all of this complete by the end of the weekend! Excited for next week, we should have most of this done and getting a the final very special deliveries for the space!!
Oh, and draperies fell through at the last minute, so I need to find a replacement – maybe sew something or buy in stock!? Send me all your tips/favorites!
