Ombre Table for Entryway!!

The air compressor came over the weekend so I was able to finish painting the table! I started with this craigslist find – the other half of this table

David cut it in half for me (14″ depth for each table)

After sanding and priming I started with clark + kensington flat paint (which I got for free during a promotion) and added some white to get 4 lighter shades

I used an airbrush – started with the lightest shade and finished with the darkest

I didn’t get a picture painting the table (these numbers will be used for another project)

Since this was just flat paint I then sprayed it with a coat of semi – gloss poly for extra protection

Once it was all dry – we mounted the table to the wall with two L brackets

It is on the first landing next to the front door

Baskets and frames are from Ikea – Hooks work great for hats, sunglasses, dog leashes, and keys – D was also airbrushed like the table

Bottom frames are from michaels (spray painted white)

Basket works great to store bags and books to grab on the way to the beach or dog park – The jars in the bottom metal basket work well for storing doggy treats and doggy bags – and a bowl for a place to put keys on the way in

Here is what the space looked like when we moved in:

I love how it brightens up this corner! Ideally I would like to paint the walls too … but since its a rental I will compromise!

Your blog is amazing! I found it through Thrifty Decor Chick! You have so many colorful and inspiring ideas! My favorites are the aqua ombre table, your yellow bedroom lamps and your bookcase redo.

What a brilliant idea for a small space – I seriously need to consider this for my dining room instead of a full size console table! Love the ombre effect as well, seriously gorgeous.

Thank you so much!! This was the perfect solution for our narrow space – it holds everything we need and takes up practically no room!

Thank you so much!! I love the organization there – now everything has a place (instead of the floor!) and it takes up hardly any room!

Oh .. love the aqua color . the table looks so pretty. Get me want to do something like this around my house (needed much colors to brighten up our dull color palette). What is the name for this aqua and yellow paint you used to painted this tables? Thank you for sharing with us.

Hi Grace! Thanks so much! It is Clark + Kensington Emerald Ice from Ace Hardware (I wasn't a fan of the paint for furniture, but you could color match)

The yellow is Overjoy from Sherwin Williams, I like Pro Classic for painting furniture.

      Best,

      Sarah

Hi there. New reader here 🙂 …As I wander through your past blog posts, I grow more and more inspired. We have such similar tastes and I love seeing the designs of someone unafraid of color! Anywho, I had a question about the air compression technique you used for the tables. I've looked up the kits and they look a little intimidating! Is it easy to use? Also, do you prefer this technique over others? I'm just not sure if I want to invest in one. Thanks!

Hi Robin! We had the compressor from another project, but we do use it frequently! It's a great way to paint a small surface (and use any color that you want). It is pretty easy to use. We started with a cheaper set and we had to clean it a lot because it would get clogged, we now have http://www.iwata-medea.com/products/iwata-airbrushes/eclipse/hp-bcs/ and this compressor http://www.amazon.com/Sparmax-TC2000-Airbrush-COMPRESSOR/dp/B009WCMJ1U

It is good for smaller areas, but not enough coverage for a large table etc. Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
