Nursery Reveal | Before + After

John’s nursery has been pretty much done since he arrived in July, but was missing a few finishing touches, which just came in! I’m so excited to share this space with you! I was super indecisive with the space (symptom of pregnancy, I’ve been told) I’m so glad I took my time with the space, I really love being in here!

I had a jute rug in here (previously in our living room) and the room wasn’t feeling quite right – it needed a statement on the floor – this beautiful rug from Revival Rugs was the missing piece – I LOVE it in here!
Early on, I knew that I wanted to pair wallpaper with an Animal Print Shop print (also available on Etsy) I love the Giraffe paired with this Dwell Studio wallpaper!

Before we get too much further – here’s a before photo. Getting rid of the bifold doors was a must!

I also knew that I wanted to incorporate book storage of some sort. This was super easy using ledges from Ikea!

This chair and gorgeous fabric is from Stagg Design Shop. It actually started the design! I love having additional seating in the room that can easily be moved around. We picked up the chair for just $3 a year or two ago – I originally didn’t have plans for it, but couldn’t pass it up! David added runners to the bottom and my mom sewed the cushion cover.

Some of the books are new (Michaels has a great selection! Changes seasonally, I picked up the Dr. Seuss books in the spring), some were gifts, and some are from my childhood. I couldn’t resist putting his little Home Depot apron there, I mean, how cute is this!?

We built in his closet with Ikea’s Pax system – very similar to our built in closet. Baskets are from Michaels. We haven’t ordered pulls for the closet door yet, but we will soon.

Dresser was just $15 and David’s mom painted it white! It was a faux wood printed laminate with a cream surround. Frames are from Michaels and cute animal prints are from here.

We kept everything needed for diaper changes within reach – it stays organized and hidden, yet easily accessible in a basket (from Home Goods)! Roll is a paper towel cut in half. Never know when you’re going to need a paper towel πŸ˜‰

Hamper is from Home Goods! David made the changing pad box. It was pretty simple – basically a large tray!

Rocking horse was from my friend Cassie! The handles were chewed so I sanded them down and wrapped them in leather – such a good, easy solution! I simply glued the leather down, I figured that would be safer than nails, and if the edge comes up, I can just use a little more glue.

Drapery rod was a DIY and panels are Ritva from Ikea. I gave them a fuller look by bunching two on each side. I created faux pleats with rings by clipping the back of the drapery panel.

Mobile is from CB2. Great price at just $20!

Crib is from Ikea. I liked the simple design and that it was solid wood – reduces VOCs and I don’t have to worry about paint chipping off.

Glider is from here – I really like it – especially for the price! It’s comfortable, but not too soft, not too hard, wipes off easily and glides nicely.

And that gorgeous rug! It’s from Revival Rugs – they specialize in unique vintage rugs that have been put through a revival process before they are listed. When David saw this rug, he asked me if it was new!! The color and quality are SO SO good!

rug // crib // glider // throw // crib sheet //  changing pad cover // lamp // giraffe art // art above dresser // draperies // mobile // pendant // wallpaper // dresser (vintage, painted) // chair (modified vintage with Stagg Design Shop fabric) // zebra head // closet door
Thanks so much to Revival Rugs for providing the rug, Stagg Design Shop for providing the fabric for the chair, and to The Animal Print Shop for providing the art above the crib! As always, I only share products and companies that I love and have had a great experience with!

Thanks Cassie! This room is pretty dark – so I definitely wanted to keep it light and bright! Agreed, I love the color that the rug brings in – it makes the space! Can’t wait to see what you do πŸ™‚
