Painting Update

Hey! I hope you had a great weekend! I wanted to share an update on our progress with the house. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a lot .. prepping for painting (especially spraying tall ceilings) takes forever, and we’ve been moving pretty slow.

First, we spent a lot of time deciding whether or not to paint and what to paint .. you can see here and here. Ultimately, we decided to paint everything white. Our home is a passive solar house – so lots of windows on the southern exposure and practically none on the northern exposure. That side of the house (behind the scaffolding) is SO dark, so we desperately need to lighten it up!

You can see the before below. On another note, the lighting was horrible! The existing lights produced practically no light. So we’ll definitely be addressing that!

Here’s a rough photoshop. The light style isn’t for sure, just an option (not the price though!) 

So far, we’ve removed the lighting and ceiling fan, removed the plank under the beam (and sanded off the adhesive, yuck!) set up the scaffolding and starting taping up the walls. We’ve purchased a sprayer and supplies, hopefully we can start painting in a week or so! I hope! 
This room will be changing a good bit, we have built ins planned, new railings, and refinished floors.  I can’t wait to see this space come together!

    • We weren't originally going to DIY it, but when we got quotes around 14,000 for just the main room and bedroom, we decided to try first! I hope it goes ok!!!
