art above the headboard finished!

Yesterday I finished the art above the headboard!

Click to read more about the tufted headboard with wings and nailhead trim, dresser/nightstand, lamps, pillows!

I drew a design based off of the bed skirt or back of pillows fabric – traced with puffy paint (remember it is very hard to get the puffy paint to be perfect – if you try it this way, embrace the imperfections!)

After it dried I painted it with SW Anew Gray with a little white mixed in

Once it dried I didn’t think that it had enough contrast – and looked a little flat in the space …

so I retraced the lines with white puffy paint and perfect – just enough pop!

The two larger frames on the right are painted the same as the canvases (little frame is from Ikea)

I printed the quote on fabric – check out this post to see how I did it – I drew the Eames chair outline and Annabelle’s silhouette in illustrator

and on the other side – a wedding photo, outline of wishbone chair, and a quote printed on fabric

I love the extra contrast that the white lines gave the canvases! and how the texture ties in with the bed skirt while balancing out the stenciled wall

I have a lot of exciting projects in the works … now I just have to decide what to start first!

Thanks Danielle! I found both on craigslist and refurbished them (if you are interested in taking a look: http://sarahmdorseydesigns.blogspot.com/search/label/dresser) Sometimes craigslist can be good and other times not!

This really is a gorgeous room – I love how it all comes together! Everyone can see that you put a lot of thought into your projects before starting them – me, on the other hand, I'm a "shoot first, ask questions later" kind of DIYer 😉

I just bought a gray and yellow comforter set at Kohls. The room is so inviting and I was glad to see your assessories in the same colors. Love the lamp shades!

I am so in love with gray and yellow combinations. I came across your image on Pinterest and used it as inspiration for my own mini-project. (http://ninasquared.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/back-in-the-bedroom/)

Hi Lindsay! The white duvet is from target, the floral coverlet is from TJ Maxx, I think the brand is Bella Lux

I love the quotes, especially to be irreplaceable, you must be different.
Do you offer that one as well? And how do you print it on fabric?

    Thank you!

I have been working on my bedroom for almost 4 months! I think I am finally beginning to see light, at least a bit, at the end of the tunnel!

Hi Angie! I just purchased some thin muslin (ironed it) and attached it to paper with spray adhesive, trimmed the edge and printed it on my ink jet printer. Super easy!
