Updates

Last week was busy and it’s catching up with me .. yesterday, it felt like nothing went right. I hate days like that .. but nothing that a trip to some thrift stores, Target and TJ Maxx couldn’t fix.

When I have days like that, I like to step away and refocus. Lots of my ideas come from wandering around stores ..
Lack of organization has been a source of stress – I hate not being able to find things! But, I don’t want to invest in things that can’t work everywhere, so I’m working on a simple solution for our current project supply closet. I picked up some plastic drawer carts from Target and wrapping paper from TJ Maxx.
So while it’s snowing .. I’ll be working on the closet, channeling my inner i heart organizing 🙂
There’s a deck under there somewhere (ps, not our stuff in the deck .. there when we got here) the snow drifts are pretty big around here since we’re on the lake.
and a few other projects coming up.
Last weekend, David and I were thrifting together and he found this commercial office credenza. We were going to build a large credenza, but all that wood makes it pretty expensive plus it’s labor intensive .. so since this is the good size, we decided to go for it. We’re planning on making it less commercial and more custom looking. I’ll be using chalk paint due to the weather (anyone have a good source online? I can’t find any locally) since it won’t need lots of sanding and oil based primer – it’s a great solution for the winter. This sucker is HEAVY, David and I barely got it in the house, and then we had to put one end of cardboard and drag it the rest of the way ..
Finally, over Christmas we started working on this chair. The original front piece didn’t have any seams, but we’re thinking that it will definitely need two!
Are you in the snow? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for sunshine and spring!

Even when things don't go right you always come up with a great solution! Anxious to see what you do with that credenza!

I have that same yellow and white wrapping paper from Homegoods! I used it to line the back of the medicine cabinet and the bottom of the vanity in our master bathroom. I can't wait to see what you do with the credenza. You always find great stuff!

I have two pieces of furniture that have been painted with clay paint by the American Paint Company … not sure if they do any online sales or not! But it's super nice paint.

T.J. Max has the greatest wrapping paper! I am loaded with it..too many trips there I guess one comes home with me every time, I cant resist it 🙂 I have almost the same kind of credenza, found mine at a thrift shop too, I think its made by Drexel, has these awesome brass pulls and locks with key holes. Cant wait to see what you guys come up with on yours! Here in California its been sunny all winter and no rain to speak of, everything is all dried up, but I feel for you in that snow,…

I am a brand new chalk paint retailer located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, if you visit anniesloanunfolded.com you can find a retailer that can ship to you. I would offer to help you myself, but I am waiting on my first shipment 🙂 The paint is wonderful, enjoy your project. Ronna The Green Doors

I am in search of a credenza like that for an entertainment center, but with the snow I do not have the motivation to go hunting for one.

I had that same white and turquoise lacy paper in my cart and put it back because I have an insane amount of paper in my stash. It's so pretty! Can't wait to see the credenza transformation.

Heavy seems a good sign – hopefully that means it's super well-made! Hope the organizing is going well – I hear you on that. I feel completely disorganized right now, which I hate! Oh, and the snow – over a foot today and the same coming later this week. Over it!

I have so many things I want to spray paint right now (!), but I am also switching to chalk paint. Just a big time suck. I have been making my own with non-sanded grout. I have used it on smaller projects, but not a large piece of furniture yet.
Can't wait to see how you update the credenza.

We've been escaping the cold and running "errands" at Marshalls and Target too : ) I have the urge to spray paint about 10 things right now and am just waiting for the snow to melt too! I love the wrapping papers you picked up as well! We bought the same gray and white stripped roll a few months ago and lined the back of our desk shelves with it : ) Can't wait to see the finished credenza!

I have used Home Depot's Chalky Paint and had great results! There are some good colors, but I mixed them to make my own too.
